Drawing - the starting point.

I'm often asked how I get my anatomy and sense of proportion in my sculptures. I don't use any forms or mechanical aids. I rely on my experience with drawing from life. Sculpture tends to be like doing a series of contour drawings as you make your way around the form. Quick gestural drawings and sheer repetition helps to make my fingers think for themselves, much like a musician repeatedly practicing scales.
